5 Thinkers Job Hunters Should Listen To

Reading blogs on sites like this is fine for job hunters giving you the lay of the land in the industry. You’ll get the tips on the job search, tricks on writing your CV and insights on what’s going on in banking.

But it’s also vitally important to get a sense of the world beyond finance. No one can predict the future but there are many people out there that have first-rate insights that can help job hunters. This counts for whether you are based in Hong Kong, Singapore, London or Timbuktu.

Let’s face it, the skills and education that got you to where you are now may not be relevant in five years’ time.

Whole industries would have come and gone by then. The best way to prepare yourself for what the world has to offer is to listen to thinkers that bring a different perspective to our evolution and what it might mean for our jobs.

Here are some leading lights that you should be listening to as part of your job search:

Seth Godin

At the same time, he even got a Ph.D. from Oxford. On top of that, he’s a historian, philosopher and best-selling author of ‘Sapiens’ and ‘Homo Deus’.

His writings examine free will, consciousness and intelligence. It’s pretty deep but absolutely insightful stuff.

He also wrote ‘BOLD: How to Go Big, Create Wealth, and Impact the World’, providing analysis and instruction for entrepreneurs interested in learning about exponential technologies, moonshot thinking and crowdsourcing.
